Sr. Mechanical Designer

Job Description

Kinestral Technologies is seeking an exceptional Senior Mechanical Designer to assist with the factory
expansion of automation and metrology equipment used in the production of our innovative energy-
efficient building product. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced, start-
up environment with a top-notch team of scientists and engineers. This position will be located in our
Hayward, CA, office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support factory upgrade and improvement effort to integrate new and/or relocate existing
    automation and metrology equipment in Kinestral’s production facility in Taiwan:

    • Typical systems include automated handling equipment for large, thin sheets of glass through various stages of the Kinestral product manufacturing process.
    • Manual and automated material transfer systems between stations within the multi-story manufacturing facility.
    • Large robotic systems for deposition processes.
    • Metrology systems for SPC of production processes.
    • Tooling and test fixtures.
  • Using CAD, accurately update and reconfigure the factory layout drawing to reflect proposed changes to the existing process flow and equipment.
  • Release and maintain revision control of all changes or additions to the factory.

Skills and Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent years of experience
  • Experience in the design and development of large automated capital equipment.
  • Expert in 2D CAD (e.g.; AutoCAD)
  • 5+ years of experience using SolidWorks preferred
  • 3+ years of experience using a PLM system (Arena, Agile, or similar) and formal document
    control procedures
  • Excellent documentation skills, including mechanical drawings and BOMs

The ideal candidate will also have

  • Understanding of Mandarin language
  • Experience with the automated handling of glass
  • Background in facility layout and hands-on equipment integration.
